Fried drumstick over rice and curry gravy.
The sides: Eggs and onions, long beans and potato, brinjals.
A simple quick meal that is cheap, but somehow makes me satisfied. I wonder if metal trays makes the difference. (knock my head! silly boy!)

It is preplexing for CASE's executive director to explain the disparity by saying that "only NTUC FairPrice had told the consumer watchdog of its uniform pricing."
This is esepcially bewildering because CASE was supposed to have done a survey of all the supermarkets - instead of waiting for the supermarket chains to tell it about their uniform pricing.

We woke up early, checked out of the hostel and went out for our last day in Vietnam. Of all the places we visited, we left our the War Memorial in Saigon. So we decided to go there. Many would have viewed the memorial as a museum that is laidback. There was nothing special about how they set up and curate their exhibitions there. However, one thing to note about that place is that they do have very good photographs held in their exhibition area. Those photographs taken over the world pinpoints the fact that war is a cruel reminder to us all that we humans are very capable of destruction by every means.
The U.S entered Vietnam with more sophisticated weapons of arms. In fact they carried out a usage of Chemical warfare using a chemical agent known as Agent Orange. Many vetarans of war from Vietnam, South Korea and the United States suffered post-war effect syndromes from the usage of Agent Orange. For the Vietnamese, it was an even more sore tragedy: millions of Vietnamese were affected either from health or mutated births. This can be considered as a genocide raised by the United State of America.
It took us like 2 hours to walk through the Museum. We took our time to read through the pictures. Although not much information can be found in English. We can depict how horrible the war for the Vietnamese. Still, the Memorial was not to remember the hatred against the U.S, but a reminder to us all what war can do to our world and the people who live in it. It also depicts the bravery and sheer hope of the Vietnamese, seeking to find their way out of a horror and building a country of what it is currently. And there is something interesting about all this: I hardly see any Vietnamese smoking and drinking at all. Or many I am comparing all of what I seen to a place I had been living in for the past 5 years.
Vietnamese Tank, or holwitzer, not sure which one it is.
This is a sculpture named “Mother” The sculpture was created using metal parts of war metals.
The effects of Agent Orange can be seen at this two specimens of babies.
A Female Vietname Soldier.
We also flipped through a couple of books with messages written by visitors all over the world. We took out some which can be interesting for you blog readers to read:
“Unfortunately things like this are still happening. It is the cycle of life, War & Peace. I don’t think it will ever end. As an American, I’m sad to say that I’m not sorry for what happened. “Evil prevails when good men fail to act”. We had the best of intentions when we entered Vietnam. This is the “Fog of War”. Communism is an evil regime. We tried to stop it. Look at the Soviet Union under Stalin, Cuba under Castro, Cambodia udner Pol Pot. Did we make a mistake? Possibly.” - K.K 4.4.08
“I felt this Museum was a bit one sided, it showed outrosities done by the Americans but not from the Vietnamese, Was is Dreadful but there was bad autrosoties done by both sides.” - Christopher Delaine Smith, Australia.
And some messages left by a PRC national. Perhaps someone translate for me?
Victims of Agent Orange.
Soldiers were baptized prior to war.
A prison cell.
Despite the fact that Vietnam has gone through all these, I am glad to see that at least in South Vietnam, the people are working hard to see that a better future is going to happen. Everyone works hard. Everyone smiles and they are very nice. Vietnam has left me with fond memories. And I also learn that M.A.G is trying hard to make Vietnam a better place to live in by removing all the land mines from the war zones. I hope to see Vietnam become stronger, like the will for change and the will that they have to live.

Where else on duty can you drink a can of beer, mock about serious topics and sing your heart out to Frank Sinatra’s New York without anyone complaining (not that his perfect-pitched voice is anything to complain about)? Broadway Beng, or rather Sebastian Tan, is allowed to do so and more with his impeccable blend of Singlish, English and Hokkien.
Last Thursday at the National Library Drama Centre, I was torn between the uncertainty of focusing on Sebastian’s singing talent or his comical lyrics manipulated to suit the locals. In the end, I just settled with a vacuous mind and laughed till I tear (my friend was bawling at the end) and that is the absolute state to be to enjoy Sebastian’s Broadway Beng 3.
The opening act wasn’t carried out by him though. Instead a mini puppet version of Sebastian appeared on a small stage, meant only for his kind, with Beng’s trademark look: gaudy suit, blonde highlights and beng antics. And soon, we saw Sebastian appearing in his obiang-looking bright green boxers on stage and singlet, looking all shocked by the huge audience. He hurriedly rushed behind the drawn curtains and spout Hokkien vulgarities at the stage assistant for the ‘technical glitch’ before coming out again, this time fittingly dressed, to commence the show in proper manner.
Just so to add a Singaporean flavour to the script, Sebastian brought in local issues like Ah Meng’s death, the Mas Selamat escape and the saturation of ‘Tan’s among the Chinese Singaporean.
I was contented with everything except for some parts of the script that could have made do without the lame jokes that made me go “haha?” However, Sebastian masked them immediately by calling out and conversing with some members of the audience in a hilarious ah beng manner, mostly in Hokkien.
Oh, of course, the Hokkien dialect was a barrier that I had to cross with the trusty help of my friend. Also, once in a while, Sebastian clears up the confusion for the non-Hokkien speaking audience by either translating or showing through hand-sign language.
Broadway Beng was so unlike Sebastian Tan who appeared for the interview with Youth.SG in normal attire of t-shirt and jeans. But, one similarity was spotted: the sense of humour that defines Sebastian.
Audience warning: Broadway Beng will put you through an hour of laughter till your throat goes dry and eyes sore from tearing, but it was worth every second.
Broadway Beng 3 runs on May 13-15, 8pm at Drama Centre, National Library. Tickets are available from Sistic.

The next destination was to a place called Fairy Stream if I remember it correctly. Our guides dropped us there and said they would be back in 30 minutes time, and urged us not to be late. Teng, by then is so moody she did not want to speak much with me.
I did not take any pictures of the Fairy stream, but we did try to go in there and take a looka looka. The thing was that when we walk in through this path, there were some local kids smoking off a beehive, remove honeycombs from it. I guess Teng actually freaked out somehow, and because the stream was the murky kind that is so brownish and all, she was not really enthuasiastic about walking in. Who knows what lurks in the stream.
So we went back the route we walked in, sat at a stone table and waited for our guides to come back. To pass the time, I went around to take some pictures. Of one, is a Honda Motorbike that I would have craved for 6 years ago. You might see it as a piece of scrap metal. But back then, there was a craze in me to make this piece of old metal into something really good looking. Good thing I didn’t, but sad thing was that I actually spend 2k on a Yamaha RXK which died on me eventually(PISTON JAMMED) because I forgot to lubricate it with 2T once when I left the army camp back home.
Nothing special, but many interesting works can be done on this Vintage Bike.
A Jeep popular for touring around Mui Ne. 30USD for a private tour. Can seat 3-4 people.
Fish Sauce inside. That’s how they make fish sauce in Thailand and Vietnam I think. Pungeant smell I assure you.
Our guides came back 30 minutes later and took us back to Baotran Hostel. Teng quickly went back to the room and rest. As for me, I took a final swim at the beach, had a little sun tan, and went back to bath. Nudged Teng to wake up, and we packed our things for our Bus trip back to Saigon. Because there was ample time left, we lingered around the Hostel till the bus arrived at Singh Cafe. Took some final pictures of the place we stayed in. Good daylight for any photos to be taken!
Anyone can lay there under a lazy afternoon sun. So no need to book sea side view rooms next time!
We left for Saigon, arrived there 5 hours later, checked in to the previous hostel we stayed in. Went out to walka walka a bit, had our dinner(just bread), and do some window shopping. It’s always raining there. Went back to watch some TV and slept out the night.
Hello all, this is Adibah! It’s a great change to be here, outside of an environment suffused with Lit texts, thoughts, and criticisms. Interests for me are centred by a (practically-) religious devotion to the arts in all its forms of manifestation – books, films, performances. I watch quite a number of documentaries and other programmes on the telly, most especially American Idol, I Shouldn’t Be Alive, The Apprentice – seemingly inane stuff, but nonetheless strangely satisfying. Pop culture appeals to me through its provocative aesthetics, a kind of balance to the heavy reading I’m used to. The experience of being submerged in its diversely coloured locale of mostly light-hearted, sometimes serious amusements is endlessly fun and productive (one way or the other!). On top of that, a large part of me survives and thrives on glorious, life-saving music: Progressive Rock/Metal/Trance, Ambience, New Age – I’m a fan of all kinds. If you don’t see me engaged in some important work, you’ll see me sneaking a pair of earphones up to my head where it rests rather snugly and relieved in aural enclaves. I write a fair bit as well, random missives that for the most part may or may not make sense even to myself after a couple of days. On the whole, I think I’m a rather amiable person – quiet, a lot of the time, but only because I tend to talk in my head than out loud in a manner that surprises many people apparently including myself, for, amidst intense cerebral chatter, I am easily inclined to believe that I’ve physically voiced something when actually I haven’t. You may find this queer and annoying – I can only apologise in advance for it! ☺

New Beijing Airport Exemplifies Why China Will Crush The Competition (via)
The Beijing terminal cost $3.65 billion to build, which in China bought a structure bigger than all five terminals at Heathrow put together, for less than half the cost of the new Terminal 5. The project was conceived, designed, constructed, and opened in four years, whereas the Heathrow terminal, from conception to completion, took twenty years. (That building, by Richard Rogers, is a somewhat compromised version of his original design—far better than the rest of Heathrow, but much less interesting than Rogers meant it to be.) These widely divergent timetables are not a matter of Chinese efficiency versus British dallying: the British, like the Americans, pay the price of democracy. The Chinese government does not have to contend with environmentalists, financing problems, or recalcitrant airlines; the public hearings over the Heathrow terminal took the same amount of time as the entire construction of the Beijing one. China simply decrees what it will build, and floods the construction zone with migrant workers whose daily pay probably wouldn’t buy a British construction worker’s lunch.
The weirdly named Getz was presumably christened so that Hyundai could use the toe-curling line "As Good As It Getz" – advertising slogan.

According to "sources" Korean cars have had a similar effect as the craze with Korean dramas and manufacturers like Hyundai and its Kia subsidiary enjoy a firm grip on the entry level end of the market.
How true is that? Well... I own a Getz, and am quite please, in case you're wondering.
We arrived at our next destination at Mui Ne, the fishing Village. Actually, earlier in the morning I saw the fishing village. I wanted the guide to stop so that I can take some pictures, Fortunately, we went back to this place. I am really very glad! Look at those boats. They are very interesting and definitely very local looking to me.
Because I don’t have a good camera with me, I can only be contented with zooming. The images are always not as good when you zoom.
This is the BEST I can do with the zoom. Apparently, one of the fisherman might going “HELLO?” with his mobile phone. Amazing he’s not really scared that piece of gadget will drop into the water and go “IT’S YOUR MAMA”
Tend apparently is not enjoying the fishing village. Because of the large amount of catch daily, there’s a very distinctive smell to that place. You look how she smile you know something is very wrong with the air already.
Fisherman is repairing the unique boat the locals frequently use. Had to strengthen using cable ties look-alike strings. It is essential and a tiring job that they continue to repair, fix and strengthen this transportation which they depend on for a living by the seaside.
And throughout the place, you can see many of this Vietnamese ladies surrounded by all this sea clams or whatever they are. You look at the amount you already scared. Apparently, I love to eat all this kind of things. Unfortunately, with Teng and her Tummy Ache, all this have to go…
A lot of ladies doing the job I tell you…
Somehow, everything they catch, just go to the seabed. Any of fish they catch will just be sperated into the various kinds. You will seriously not feel they are appetizing with al those sand and gravel and flies mixed together before they are cleansed and ready for market.
The kooku pointing to the boat..
Before I left, I took this picture. Here I go again ZOOOM. Sad siah…
Too many to count…
See, I told you already. The fish just flopped over at the sea bed. All kinds of fish. All look a mess…
This trip to the fisherman village is worth it. If I have more time, I would choose to interact with the locals, rather than just merely taking pictures. I would seriously prefer to rent a room at the seaside for a month, with the ability to cook if the place has a kitchen, come down and buy my own fish and food, and get adventurous with the cooking. But sadly, all this kind of so called LIVING may not happen soon, and might have to be really later in the future.
Thinking back after two weeks, I think I can still vaguely remember the smell of the fishing village. Not a friendly smell, but definitely something that will keep going through my senses when I think about Mui Ne and its fishing Village.
For those who prefers Blogging paid articles, to advertisements from banners either as CPM or per click revenue, there is new service in the market you can tap into: SnapBomb.
Just as the name of this new company indicated, jobs are snapped up quickly and audiences are Bombed as needed. Snapbomb works in a new targeted audience environment in which they have a tracking system created to keep track the blogs working with them as well collecting reliable data from the site. Bloggers can also keep track of blog traffic trends to understand how traffic flows for you.
Look at the information they collected from my site:
Value: $10.05 to $40.20
| Search Engine Rank: |
Alexa Rank: 7787096
Technorati Rank: 1951828
It shows that although I might have a page rank of 3, however because of a low rank in Alexa and Technorati, some of the job offers I get are really seriously low in profit. Despite this, Snapbomb works in an interesting manner. As you write more posts for them, you will get better ratings. So, if you can produce quality work for them, you will get higher chance to receive better payment jobs. The base value for assignments basis earnings was collected from my site offers a range of $10-40USD. In which case, as time progresses and I can keep up with good quality wrtten posts for them, I will get what I should be profitting from.
What I like to see from snapbomb in the future, are more jobs and assignments which caters to my blog. I find an interesting thing that they can offer and which currently they do not have is an affiliate system. This will in the future prove to be a useful blog marketing technique or blog advertising tool. Let’s face it, many of us out there, despite the urge to work hard and improve one’s life, there is always a tier system need in which everyone benifits from each other. I would definitely look forward to the day Snapbomb does something like that out.
Whether you need a new buzz for your blog or for your business, Snapbomb currently works in a new trend for internet targeted audiences. I hope you will hear more of it soon. Hopefully this post grabs the interests you need to find out more about them! You can find out more about them through the link below:

I’ve recently gotten a new imaginary friend in the form of Blankanvas, who is professionally tasked with advancing social media in Singapore. We had a very interesting conversation online the other day in which she made me realize that my blog is actually a magazine.
The most crucial factor for your blog’s success which you should never belittle. With increasing competition from the endless ocean of media channels ranging from Television to Magazines to Blogs, how do you fight to capture one’s attention? With value. I visit Popagandhi’s blog because it feels like NatGeo locally cooked. I visit Cowboy Caleb and Mr. Miyagi’s blogs because their news is juicier than BBC. I don’t bother with that particular famous blogger who won’t stop talking about her hair and boyfriend, because I don’t understand what value I get from her at all. So, what are you offering your consumers in exchange for their time?
Perhaps she knew she touched a chord in me, and then went off to write a full blown guide to The Holy Trinity of Blogging - which you really need to read because it summarizes everything you need to know (or already knew but never realized) about blogging.

According to the SMU employment survey, their salaries are 6.7% higher than the previous cohort.
Of the 618 survey respondents, 69 got high-paying jobs that pay between $4,000 to $10,000 a month.
And those who got distinctions in their degrees - namely summa cum laude, magna cum laude and cum laude - receive an average starting pay of $3,500.
Congratulations to the SMU Class of 2007.
But the sceptics among us know that results of employment surveys are always to be taken with a pinch of salt.
Oh my… this piece of news that SMU Fresh grads get starting salaries ranging from SGD4-10k, at an average of SGD3.5k made me laugh quite a bit today.
2 years ago, I had no choice but to take on interns from SMU because there were none from NTU and NUS. I learned quite a few lessons. First of all, SMU interns cost more any other interns because SMU demands we pay more rather than for any other reason related to quality. Secondly, SMU interns are either younger (I got a pimply 18 year old) or from a foreign country (which I also got). Too make a long story short, YOUNG + IMMATURE + FOREIGN = DISASTER and I flunked both of them at the end of their internship.
So back to the results of this utterly bizarre survey. Will companies really pay 4-10k for fresh graduates? Despite the fact that they may be younger. Despite the fact that they may be foreigners?
Perhaps.
However, any large company able to pay such salaries to fresh graduates would also possess a highly competent HR department with a proper HR policy. The questions below would surely be asked:
Also take into account how such salary surveys are performed. I would imagine that SMU calls their grads on the phone and asks them questions like “how long did it take you to find a job” and other pointless crap before finally popping “How much is your monthly salary”.
Perhaps being younger (and maybe more immature) these SMU grads may feel the pressure to inflate their salaries…. after all, no need to verify against their payslips right?
Conclusion
So quick, everybody - make sure you go enroll into SMU now! After all, you want to earn more money right?
